I’m an L&D professional and have been in corporate training and online learning since 2018. As a corporate trainer delivering soft skills training, I equipped managers and professionals with the communication and conflict-resolution tools needed to improve cross-functional collaboration and client satisfaction. Over the years, I’ve had many rewarding interactions with learners and teams, and have focused on making all aspects engaging to drive the best retention and outcomes.

My Philosophy: Strategy & Empathy

Great training starts with empathy. By understanding exactly who we are designing for, we bridge the gap between confusion and competence.

  • Real-World Application: During my time as a corporate ESL teacher, I learned about my students' diverse international careers while systematically identifying their unique learning gaps to build targeted paths for success.

  • Needs Analysis: I’ve found that conducting a thorough analysis before settling on a course of action identifies the true problem. This prevents creating eLearning when training isn’t the actual solution.

  • Adult Learning Theory: From the beginning, I shape every course around adult learning principles—prioritizing active learning experiences over passive content delivery because adults learn best by doing.

My modern Toolkit

My instructional design philosophy is rooted in agility and performance. Whether guiding stakeholders through the systematic checkpoints of ADDIE or facilitating a rapid SAM Savvy Start, my goal is total alignment.

I thrive in the iterative space—using Action Mapping to isolate core business behaviors, drafting macro text outlines with Claude, mocking up visual layouts in Figma, and executing polished, tracking-ready final builds within Articulate Storyline.

Beyond the Desk

When I’m not solving problems for clients and learners, I love going hiking and camping by the lake with my wife or staying in touch with family and friends. There are so many beautiful places to visit nearby, and as a lifelong learner and lover of nature, I like to explore as many as possible.

Some other hobbies include woodworking and carpentry where I solve problems and create through a design and build strategy. I also love to teach, though that isn’t just a hobby—it's part of my DNA. As a former woodshop teacher, I brought this passion to a local kids' camp one summer. Given free rein to design a brand-new program from scratch, I mapped out the entire custom curriculum and interactive projects for all classes.

Whether I am designing an enterprise training program or sketching a new carpentry layout, my goal remains the same: making the experience meaningful, purposeful, and engaging.
